We are at the crest of a wave. . .heading up and up to the sky, anticipating a downward glide—exhilaration. We watch for the BIG wave, wondering: Will we be able to hold our breath long enough? Are we in the right place to dive underneath? Will we find the sand at our feet? There is no way to get set. The wave breaks early. We are tumbled—disoriented. We take joy and fear as they come.
